FAÇADE INSPECTION AND EVALUATION

As a service to our clients, Abbot provides comprehensive inspections of the exterior building façade. When appropriate, we team with building envelope consulting engineers and architects to provide specific recommendations for remedial actions.

  • Removal of Loose or Debonding Building Elements
  • Netting and Strapping of Failing Masonry

MAINTENANCE

Responsible maintenance practices call for a visual inspection of a masonry building every year or two to check for obvious signs of deterioration.

As a service to our clients, Abbot provides comprehensive evaluations of the exterior building facade to comply with municipal building regulations.

The City of Boston’s “Facade Ordinance Code” requires that exterior walls and appurtenances of “high rise” commercial buildings whose height is greater than 70 feet be inspected periodically for safety. In fact, the law requires inspection every year for “unoccupied” buildings and every five years for “occupied” buildings. Abbot teams with architect/engineering professionals to help facilitate the practical aspects of the inspection process.
